Job Description
The Junior Copywriter will be a member of truth's Marketing Department, a 20-member team which directs all marketing initiatives for the organization truth® campaign. This person will report directly to our in-house Content Director.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (*ESSENTIAL DUTIES): - Write articles, copy for petitions, and campaign sub-components like SMS, Email, Social posts, etc. when called upon and sometimes within short notice.*
- Drive copywriting needs for the truth.com action center, truth social media posts, truth.com webpages, banner ads, and additional marketing initiatives/needs.*
- Ensure all written content is engaging and impactful, built around an emotional core but in line with truth® campaign (@truthorange / thetruth.com) brand guidelines.
- Develop systems for mining through social media and other channels to brainstorm advocacy relevant project-specific content focused on tobacco prevention and cessation that inspire GenZ to participate in action.
- Drive content that instigates action, both online and offline, to encourage GenZ to engage in activities ranging from petitions to self-organizing and fields activations.
- Be able to help create compelling content for TikTok and Instagram as needed - this role will assist in the production of social media content, so a working knowledge of creating for both platforms will be extremely useful.
- Work with internal team members to figure out innovative ways to tell advocacy stories in video form.
- Become our go-to in-house content resource on all-things advocacy while ensuring the brand is consistent in tone and find compelling narratives to make people care.*
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 1-3 years professional writing experience; experience writing for a non-profit/cause-based organization is a major plus. Advertising agency or Design firm writing experience will also be considered.
- Excellent writing and reporting skills.
- Experience producing and packaging stories for digital media and writing for both web and social platforms.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet short deadlines.
- The ability to work independently and efficiently on concurrent projects and with internal staff and outside partners/vendors.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE: The salary range for this role is starting at $58,000-$65,000 on a national basis. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, relevant work experience, skillset, internal equity, location, and certifications, consistent with applicable law. Salary is just one part of our total rewards package which additionally includes equity, performance bonus for eligible roles, and competitive benefits.
