Duties and Responsibilities:

Painters apply stains, varnish, and other finishes to protect, maintain and decorate interior and exterior surfaces of architectural woodwork and its related items.

* Work out the quantity of materials needed for the job by taking surface measurements or by looking at job specifications or drawings

* Prepare surfaces by fixing woodwork, filling or sealing holes, cracks and joins and cleaning them down to remove dust and grease

* Select and prepare paints to match colors by the addition of tints

* Brush, roll or spray the paints, stains, varnishes and other finishes

* Spray paint surfaces using a spray gun or specialized equipment

* Apply decorative paint finishes such as stencils, color glaze, graining, marbling and lettering

* Wash equipment and clean work areas.

Qualifications

* Must be 18 years of age in order to legally operate the required power equipment.

* Corrected vision sufficient to accurately apply decorative paint finishes including, but not limited to: stencils, color glaze, graining, and marbling, lettering. Must be able to read work tickets, product descriptions, product numbers, accurately identify products, and successfully inspect final products.

* Hearing sufficient to hear conversation and instructions.

* Mobility and dexterity necessary to stand most of the day, walk throughout the shop and warehouse regularly, work at heights as needed and to operate saws and machinery efficiently and safely.

* The ability to move (lift or slide) product weighing approximately 75 lbs. on a regular basis. 100 pounds occasionally.

* Successful applicant will be able to maintain favorable relations with co-workers.

* A safe work history.

* Work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week as required.

* Good sense of balance

* Ability to work independently.
