WHAT TEAM(S) WILL YOU WORK FOR? The Battle Creek Battle Jacks are a summer collegiate baseball team in the prestigious Northwoods League.The Battle Jacks are also owned and operated by the same group that owns the Kalamazoo Growlers and Outlier Events and have many shared responsibilities, tasks and missions.
The Battle Jacks play at MCCU Field, a 3,000 seat facility located in the heart of Battle Creek. Prior to new ownership and a rebrand to the Battle Jacks in 2022, the Battle Creek Bombers played in the Northwoods League from 2007-2021.

WHAT LEAGUE WILL YOU WORK FOR? The Northwoods League is a summer baseball league composed of teams of the top college players from across North America. The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America.Each team is operated exactly like a professional minor league team, with players using wooden bats, minor league specification baseballs, and playing nightly before thousands of fans.

As the Content Marketing Manager, you will lead the content and marketing strategy, develop creative content through videos, graphics, and writing, and manage the content publishing platforms across the website, social media, and other marketing avenues. You'll work closely with all internal departments to build marketing plans and develop storytelling content to accomplish department and team goals.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Marketing Campaigns
- Oversee and organize marketing and advertising campaigns from strategy to execution by working closely with internal departments, including but not limited to tickets, sponsorships, merchandise, events, and operations.
- Engage and expand the fan base by executing consumer promotions, event planning, and facilitating the creation of persuasive marketing materials.
- Communicate with partners to schedule advertising expenses including but not limited to tv commercials, radio commercials, billboards, and other outlets.
- Website
- Oversee, manage, and update the team website.
- Email Newsletter / Text & Push Notifications
- Oversee the team email newsletter, text automation, and push notifications. Ensure all databases are organized and up to date and communications are sent on time and accurately.
- Social Content
- Publish daily across team platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, and new emerging platforms.
- Copywriting- coming up with creative ideas/text to describe campaigns and initiatives.
- Respond promptly to direct messages sent to team accounts and communicate with teammates to relay information, answer questions, and provide customer service.
- Brand Consistency
- Develop and write messaging consistent with brand voice and ensure messaging and strategy are targeted to various audiences and executed across multiple channels.
- Work closely with General Manager to ensure all marketing elements are cohesive and that all outward-facing marketing elements meet brand guidelines
- Content Development
- Create, develop, and deliver engaging content through the use of graphics, photos, videos, stories, that makes fans laugh, smile, cry, etc.
- Assist with designing marketing materials, including but not limited to ballpark signage, social graphics, mailers, flyers, tickets, billboards, etc.
- Understand competitive trends in the sport, entertainment, and event industry, maximize brand awareness through current and new strategies
- Write program stories, press releases, and media advisories, and pitch potential story ideas to local media outlets.
- Reporting and Budgeting
- Measure and review analytics for content and marketing campaigns through Google Analytics, URL trackers, and other analytics tools
- Provide reporting updates in team meetings on paid and organic marketing efforts, identify insights, and implement changes to improve campaign results.
- Oversee and manage all media and marketing inventory and budgets.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Serve as the point of contact and provide fans with exceptional customer service about merchandise and ticket questions sent via email and direct messages
- Assist with the team's NWL broadcast during each home game on ESPN+, NWL+ and the NWL FAST Channel
- Lead a marketing team and seasonal interns that liaises with all internal departments to support departmental goals, projects, and overall team objectives
- Represent the team at various team events and participate in other outside, community events and mascot appearances, as defined by the team
GENERAL TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES: - Game and Team Event Availability: Expected to be available for all Battle Jacks home games and team events; this includes weekends and holidays.
- Game Day and Event Hours: Expected to be available from mid-to-late morning through the end of the game or event. The schedule will be decided by the direct supervisor on a homestand and event basis.
- Non-Game Day/Event Hours: Expected to attend office hours of 8 AM-5 PM each weekday during season and out-of-season.
- Other General Team Responsibilities May Include:
- Cleaning and organizing the press box and other ballpark areas.
- Assist with ballpark set-up and tear-down before-the-season, after-the-season and during each homestand.
- Assist with event set-up and tear-down at team events.
- Help maintain ballpark cleanliness.
- All other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - Live or willing to move to Battle Creek, MI (or southwest Michigan)
- Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, InDesign, Illustrator and/or Photoshop)
- Skillful in TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, etc.
- Experience with WordPress or other web-based applications preferred, but not required
- Strong marketing and content strategy development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Assertive, persistent, and results oriented
- Ability to manage people, interns and gameday staff.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and think strategically
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to work extended hours upwards of 14 hours and lift 30-50 lbs

*Vacation days are awarded at the discretion of the General Manager with no maximum number of days allowed per calendar year. All vacation requests are to be received at least two weeks prior to needed time off. Vacation time is discouraged from April 1- September 1 due to in-season responsibilities.
