Position Summary:

The part-time, temporary Accounting Assistant is part of the Finance and Accounting Department. This individual will work with accounts payable and complete a variety of data entry and office tasks for the department. This position supports and contributes to the Ten Thousand Villages mission by: Contributing to the smooth operation of the Finance and Accounting Department so that colleagues throughout the organization have access to accurate, reliable and timely financial information to make sound and strategic decisions, in addition to paying vendors on time so valuable support services are maintained. The position is is approximately 25-30 hours/week. While the position is mostly on-site, there is some flexibility for remote work.

Position Duties/Responsibilities:

• Process AP invoices.
• Assist Financial Accountant with 1099 forms, W-9s and COIs.
• Prepare store depository bank account reconciliations.
• Sort mail, scan images and route accordingly; tally checks for Accounts Receivable Accountant.
• Perform office tasks to include filing and typing letters.
• Perform additional duties/responsibilities as requested which contribute to the position’s success and the mission.

Preferred Experience/Knowledge/Education/Skills/Abilities:

• Associate degree or equivalent experience
• 1-2 years general accounting or payables experience or comparable training
• Familiarity with basic accounting knowledge
• Moderate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail and organization
• Ability to do repetitive data entry with high speed and accuracy
• Ability to adhere to strict standards of confidentiality
• Effective communication skills and ability to relate well with others
• Ability to work well with little supervision and prioritize work independently
