Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Surveyor to work in our Facility Design and Project Engineering department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls campus with every other Friday off. You will survey sites for construction projects and provide data on measurements to establish property, building, and site surface features at the INL. You will report directly to the manager of the Facility Design and Project Engineering department. Responsibilities Include:

  • Use established INL survey information and produce new site field surveys to support the producing of drawings depicting site information.
  • Prepare and maintain drawings, maps, and reports of legal descriptions of surveys to be reviewed by engineering and management.
  • Research drawings and documents, and survey records and land titles to clarify information concerning building location and property boundaries.
  • Use computer software such as Civil 3D and be fully functional in the operation of field survey equipment.
  • Work with state-of-the-art electronic survey equipment to translate and upload survey measurements into electronic/computer systems. Use a variety of modern surveying equipment, manual recording methods, computer-aided drafting programs, and databases to collect and record data of geological areas according to project requirements.
  • Perform outdoor field work for construction surveying and operate survey equipment and GPS devices.
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists to provide technical input on various tasks.
  • Be the Subject Mater Expert to offer solutions to everyday issues for Facility Managers, Engineers, and Researchers.
  • Use experience working with engineers and operators to troubleshoot and repair issues.
  • Use data analytic tools and experience to solve complex technical issues.
  • Use various software packages to develop intuitive graphical interfaces and models.
  • Prepare technical evaluations and provide input to support procurement activities of capital or other systems science equipment for operation, reliability, and performance.
  • Provide technical direction on proposals and strategic business ventures to ensure the work is being properly completed.
  • Develop relationships to support work assignments if required technical inputs lie outside of normal expertise or education.
Qualifications: Minimum Requirements:
  • Level 2: Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 2 years of relevant land surveying experience, or an advanced degree in a technical field.
  • Level 3: Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 5 years of relevant land surveying experience, or an advanced degree in a technical field and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensed land surveyor in the state of Idaho or the ability to get licensure within 2 years of hire.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  • Experience with Civil 3D program is beneficial.
Job Information:
  • The pay range for this position is: Level 2 ($63,528 - $130,284) / Level 3 ($75,804 - $155,496). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
