Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Operates truck and trailer combination, toros, riding and push mowers weed eaters and blowers to complete assigned projects such as mowing operations and debris removal. Performs a variety of heavy manual labor such as cutting and clearing vegetation and debris, landscaping, tree trimming, and clearing debris. Inspects area to be mowed for manhole covers, rocks, gas lines, and concrete chunks and other debris or obstacles. Marks them as needed for sighting for mower or tractor. Assist in the coordination of projects between other departments. Performs routine checks and preventive maintenance on mowing equipment and hand and power tools such as checking oil, fuel levels, tires, lubricating and safety operations. Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions and cleans equipment as needed. Assists crew members in performing their duties. Records information pertaining to work completed. Drives a City vehicle to and from job sites. Communication Ability to listen and understand directions, information and ideas presented verbally and in writing. Exercises independence of judgment and initiative in performing the duties of the position. Ability to perform work without close supervision at times. Performs other duties as assigned. Special projects as needed. Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy. Must be able to obtain and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Texas driver's license and good driving record. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of divisions and departments. Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions. May require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; kneeling, crouching and bending; pushing, pulling and reaching; and standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
