Skilled High-End Residential Site Supervisor

We’re looking for someone with a superb eye for detail to work on job sites with a strong work ethic, and the ability to communicate, coordinate, and plan ahead to add to our team of dedicated & talented Carpenters working on High-end Residential Homes in Toronto.

Must Haves:

  • Own vehicle and valid Ontario driver’s license
  • Own tools and PPE
  • Must own a smart phone with a data plan (Time Clock and Daily Logs will be input from your phone through the Buildertrend App) *Project Management Software experience an asset
  • Live in the Toronto Area and be able to legally work in Ontario
  • Ability to read, understand, and explain Architectural, Mechanical and Structural Drawings and relay details accordingly in English
  • Ability to Supervise Sub-trades and Carpenters while performing Carpentry tasks on site (50% Supervisor/50% on the tools)

Qualifications:

  • 9+ Year Framing experience in the High-End Residential Renovation/Custom Home Building field
  • 6+ Years Trim/Finish Carpentry experience
  • 6+ Years Exterior Carpentry experience
  • 3+ Years experience Supervising Carpenters and Sub-trades
  • 3+ Years experience Supervising 2-3 Projects at the same time
  • Proven ability to work within Deadlines and Budgets
  • Strong Time Management, Decision Making, Delegating, Leadership and Problem Solving skills
  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety and Ontario building codes
  • High standard of integrity, craftsmanship and professionalism
  • Excellent People skills; sub-trades, suppliers, clients, neighbors and SevernWoods staff
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Certified Red Seal Carpenter an asset, but not required
  • Pay rate dependent on Experience & Skill Level

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the daily activities of the crew, trades, suppliers and relaying important information to the Project Manager and Production Coordinator
  • Responsible for leading the carpentry work on site including framing, steel installation, finish trim carpentry, finesse framing carpentry, window installation, bathroom accessories installation and misc. custom items
  • Utilizing the Architectural and Structural drawings to construct the house according to all specifications
  • Managing Sub-Trade activity on site; ensuing trades are showing up on time and staying on budget, doing their work to SevernWoods high standards and following OBC’s, reviewing their work at the end of each working day to prevent mistakes
  • Running weekly Goal Set Review Meetings to ensure that Carpenters are exceeding production and budgetary goals
  • Utilizing Buildertrend to accurately input Time Clock shifts, approving shifts of carpenters on site to ensure accuracy, input Daily Logs and upload progress Photos weekly
  • Utilizing Buildertrend to create PO’s, refer to the project budget, upload photos and documents
  • Coordinating site deliveries, returns, daily site cleanliness and uphold MoL safety standards
  • Ensuring all persons on site are wearing proper PPE and practicing safe working practices, reporting any unsafe conditions or damage to Project Manager immediately
  • Refer to Project Managers or President for detailed engineering/drawings/questions in order to complete difficult tasks properly and ensure that crew preform work according to specifications/OBC/ drawings
  • Complete understanding and facilitation of the following elements of the projects;
    • Demolition
    • Foundations and footings forming and pouring
    • Damp-proofing and water-proofing
    • Steel Design & Installation
    • Rough and back framing carpentry
    • Finish carpentry, back framing & trim work
    • Insulation & drywall
    • Roofing, eaves, soffit and fascia
    • Priming, painting and staining
    • Ordering & installation of exterior siding, cedar, decking and fencing
    • Ordering & installation of stairs and railings
    • Ordering & installation of doors, door hardware, bathroom accessories
    • Ordering & installation of tiles, flooring and other finishes
    • Installation of cabinetry/millwork and stairs
    • Ordering & installation of windows and exterior door systems
    • Ordering & installation of interior and exterior insulation
    • Sub-Contracted elements; Masonry, Electrical, Insulation, Plumbing, HVAC, Automation, etc…
  • Be available during work hours to answer questions from anyone on site; employees, sub-trades, clients, and refer to Project Manager or President when needed
  • Working with the Production Coordinator to approve PO’s, CO’s, Orders, Deliveries and Time Clock
  • Ensure all Safety Equipment is in good working order including site signage and fire extinguishers
  • Teach Carpenters & Jr. Carpenters techniques, procedures and best practices when called upon for assistance
  • Maintaining good relations with clients and neighbours to ensure their cooperation throughout the project
  • Ensuring site staff have the tools & equipment they need to complete tasks effectively, order any replacement tools or repairs if necessary
  • Follow company policies regarding time clock, work hours, time off, change orders, time clock, etc.
