Senior Data Engineer (Hybrid - Independence, OH)


**This is a hybrid/telecommute position. Candidates must reside in the United States to be considered. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Independence, OH.**

Job Title : Senior Data Engineer
Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 per year
Location : Independence, OH
Work Arrangement: Full-Time | Onsite with Hybrid Flexibility
Schedule:  Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Eastern
 
 
About the Role
Cosán  is seeking a Senior Data Engineer—ideally with healthcare experience—to join our collaborative Engineering Team. This is a hands-on technical role focused on building and maintaining reliable data systems, optimizing ETL pipelines, managing client integrations, and delivering actionable insights through reporting.
 
Work Arrangement
This is an  onsite role with a hybrid schedule . This is an  onsite role for the first 2 months , with the option to transition to a  hybrid schedule (minimum 10 onsite days per month)based on performance and business needs.
 
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Maintain and proactively monitor a variety of Azure SQL databases – development, testing, production, reporting – to ensure reliability and high performance
- Design and develop new (and enhance some existing) ETL pipelines to move data from our OLTP databases to our OLAP database
- Create and maintain integration processes to ingest data from and provide data to our clients
- Design, develop, and maintain processes to sanitize, aggregate and normalize datasets from various sources
- Assist software engineers (your teammates) with writing and tuning T-SQL queries/stored procedures, debugging/tuning EF queries, and designing new data models
- Provide accurate reporting to internal teams and external clients, via Power BI reports, a proprietary dashboard, and ad-hoc reporting
 
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Health Informatics)
- 5+ years of experience working with database administration, data warehousing, and/or data analytics
- Deep knowledge of relational database and data warehousing concepts
- Experience administering, maintaining and tuning Microsoft SQL Server databases, preferably in an Azure cloud environment
- Strong T-SQL skills, with the ability to develop sophisticated and complex queries in support of reporting, data analysis, and batch processing tasks
- Experience with ETL tools, preferably Azure Data Factory or SSIS
- Experience with Fabric/Power BI, DAX. PowerBI Embedded a plus
- Familiarity with Entity Framework
- Familiarity with at least one of the following coding languages: C# (strongly preferred), JavaScript, Java, Python
- Experience working with HL7, CCDA, FHIR and/or other healthcare data standards
- Comfortable working with Microsoft DevOps tools (or similar) for source control and project planning, and familiar with Agile methodologies

The ability to perform essential job functions, including managing complex data systems, troubleshooting urgent production issues, and responding to time-sensitive requests from internal and external stakeholders—is critical to this role. The Senior Data Engineer must demonstrate resilience, focus, and problem-solving under pressure, particularly when navigating tight deadlines or shifting business priorities. This role requires adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, where maintaining data integrity, system reliability, and cross-functional collaboration is essential.
