FUNCTION OR SCOPE OF ASSIGNED DUTIES, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: (40% of time)
The Psychology Program Manager of APU is responsible for strategic planning to ensure the provision of high-quality services to meet the needs of Veterans being served and planning and developing and implementing short and long-term goals and objectives consistent with the program's strategic plan.
1. They have oversight and administrative and programmatic resources and deploy those resources in support of the program needs.
2. They develop and implement programs and monitor outcomes using data driven quality assurance processes and implement strategies for improvement based on data analysis.
3. Has line and staff authority for resource allocations within the Acute Psychiatric Treatment Program.
4. Ensures efficient operation of the organizational unit.
5. Responsibilities include supervision of the Acute Psychiatric Treatment program staff, professional management, serve as liaison between the APU and individuals seeking treatment, serve as subject matter expert for APU, consulting with leadership on issues impacting and impacted by APU staff and the provision of APU services.
6. Oversee the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements within programs using data-driven quality assurance processes.
7. Is responsible for timely completion of all program evaluations and documents required by the Medical Center or healthcare system, VISN, and VACO, ensuring compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies (such as JCAHO) and monitoring entities (such as NEPEC), as appropriate.
8. Provides leadership guidance and consultation to staff within the APU, as well as other units to which assigned.
9. Provides clinical supervision to various disciplines and levels of training.
10. Is involved in the training of medical students, medical and psychiatric residents, nursing students, fellows and other graduate or post-graduate trainees, as appropriate.
11. Serves as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees and assists in their formulation of the psychological characteristics and appropriate treatment expectations regarding their patients.
12. Serves on Medical Center or Healthcare System, VISN, and/or National VA committees or task forces.
Clinical Responsibilities (60% of time):
1. Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and using the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care.
2. Performs psychological evaluations (personality, cognitive, etc.) for mental health, domiciliary, and outpatient substance abuse programs.
3. Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including evidenced based and recovery oriented individual and group psychotherapy.
Other Significant Responsibilities:
1. Actively participates in leadership roles on local, state, and national professional organizations.
2. Serves as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees and assists in their formulation of the psychological characteristics and appropriate treatment expectations regarding their patients.
Work Schedule : 8:00am-1630pm, M-F

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66 .
