Job Summary: The Program Assistant 2 for the Department of Art History and the Department of Classics provides support to the undergraduate programs and coordinates events and communications efforts for both departments. The ideal candidate will have excellent people skills, exceptional attention to detail, and an interest in having a varied portfolio.
This is a full-time position that offers a hybrid work schedule; more information about the work schedule will be discussed during the interview. The target hiring range for this position is $38,460.96 - $54,079.20 per year, which is $18.42 - $25.90 hourly. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data..

Specific Responsibilities :
Undergraduate Programs:
- Provides administration support to the Directors of Undergraduate Studies and other faculty administrators; assists students with a variety of program-related actions and milestones such as major/minor processing, honors thesis, and study abroad.
Department Communications:
- Responds to general inquiries, including those sent to the departmental email accounts; maintains list servs; coordinates content maintenance of websites &/or blogs. Assists in the production of the departments' newsletters, ensuring newsletters are produced on deadline. Collects and organizes newsletter content and oversees design. Demonstrates professionalism and discretion in all communications.
Event Planning:
- Coordinates department events including lectures, graduation events, and other gatherings. Publicizes events through updates to University websites, digital signage, and posters. Executes all tasks related to event logistics and staffs events as needed.
Supervision:
- May supervise work-study students.
Accounting:
- Verifies income &/or expenses; assists with reconciliation of accounts; and investigates & resolves discrepancies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: - A high school diploma or its equivalent
- At least 2 years of administrative support experience
Minimum Competencies: - Intermediate knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database software programs
Preferred Qualifications :
- Previous experience working with students
- Previous experience with event planning
- Background related to art history or classical studies, or the humanities more broadly
Preferred Competencies: - Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent attention to detail
- Flexibility and willingness to work with a team
- Familiarity with web updating and design software
- Interest in the intellectual and cultural climate of higher education
- Superb professionalism
