The purpose of this job is to provide professional support as a competent entry level designer within a formal engineering process or a major project. This position performs routine and less complex engineering support tasks that support the mission of the department and Volvo GTO. This position requires the ability to interpret the principles, theories, engineering standards and concepts of a specialized technical area and to apply them in an innovative and original method to further the mission of the organization. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as a product designer in an area of assignment with limited responsibility, completing Order Specifications with direction from supervision and technical leadership. Incorporates problem solving techniques, requires ingenuity and/or creativity. Participates in and performs conceptual design activities within area of assignment: Emphasis is placed on accuracy; accountability/ownership; adherence to formal internal and external standards, procedures, and processes; and accurate, acceptable documentation. May serve as a design and/or CAD resource in primary area of assignment or performs duties in support of a larger project. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum education and experience requirements can be met through any one of the pathways described in the charts below. Path A Education: 2 year - Associate Degree in Drafting and Design, Engineering Design Technology, or related design field Training: Successfully completed CAD training in a major CAD system or ability to demonstrate equivalent skills.
