Job Description
Supervises and coordinates several concurrent planning projects, studies and activities with responsibility for a major functional segment of the total city planning program; and performs other related duties as required.
Current vacancies : There is one vacancy with the Department of Planning and Permitting . This position serves as the Monitoring and Compliance Branch Chief of the Customer Services Office. Examples of work duties and responsibilities includes, but is not limited to the following: Supervises the research, analysis, evaluation, preparation and processing of Civil Fine Orders for violations of the Land Use Ordinance, Special Management Area & Shoreline Setback Rules and Regulations, and permit conditions.
Monitors the status of pending Civil Fine cases and coordinates the follow-up enforcement effort with Corporation Counsel.
Supervises the monitoring of compliance to permit conditions.
Directs, supervises, evaluates, and gives assignments to staff.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT :
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with specialization in city planning, architecture, engineering, economics, sociology, public administration or a related field.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT :
Five years of professional (post-bachelor's degree, non-clerical) work experience in city planning or related planning activities, one of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
Such experience must demonstrate knowledge of the principles, practices, purposes, scope and techniques of the various phases of city planning, and the preparation, maintenance and operation of a comprehensive plan for a large metropolitan area; trends in Federal, State and local planning as they affect city planning; laws and ordinances relating to planning, zoning, land subdivision, and redevelopment; and principles and practices of supervision.
Substitution : A Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from a regionally-accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of professional work experience in city planning or related planning experience.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT :
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required.
