Direct Support Professional / Life Coach

Nick’s Home is a dynamic and exciting concept in the provision of person-centered services for an individual with special needs. Nick’s Home is seeking individuals interested in Full Time employment for 2nd (3:00 PM to 11:00 PM) shift to be part of a positive, tight-knit, dynamic team working with a thirty-three-year-old male on the Autism spectrum. Candidates must have experience or a strong desire to work with individuals with disabilities. Weekend availability is a must. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred. You must have a valid PA driver’s license and be subject to criminal history background checks. Nick's Home offers medical benefits and Paid Time Off for qualified employees.
The position provides supportive guidance and care to assist the individual with activities of daily living by following his person-centered plan and ISP. Our individual is an active young man who enjoys being out-and-about in his community. Applicants should be capable of keeping up with him physically. He enjoys five-mile walks daily! The successful applicant will maintain documentation in compliance with all Chapter 6400 Licensing Inspection Instrument regulations and policies. Maintain a safe and positive environment, welcome visits with family members and friends. Assist with, document and monitor medication and healthcare needs. Respond to the individual’s request for help/assistance per his request, in addition to written plan to help him with his daily routine with an emphasis on promoting independence on an ongoing basis. Accompany the individual on community and recreational activities such as dining out, shopping, movies, and events. In addition, the applicant should be physically capable of performing household chores and assist with meal preparation.
The successful applicant should have a demonstrated working knowledge of Autism and working with individuals with cognitive disabilities and special needs. An understanding of the tenets of Applied Behavior Analysis is helpful. The candidate should also show an understanding of the concept of a Person-Centered approach to care and embrace positive approaches to behavior support and acknowledge the individual’s desire to live a life of his choosing.
