Job Title: Laborer Traffic Control Department: Paving
Reports to: Paving Foreman
Major Role and Purpose :
- Performs various unskilled tasks that are associated with heavy highway construction.
Description of Duties :
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all federal, state, local and company safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Receive daily instruction from project foreman and/or superintendent.
- Distributes traffic control signs and markers along in designated pattern (lifting cones & barrels.
- Operate electronic message boards.
- Responsible for installing, setting in place, and repairing traffic signals, erecting signs, or devices such as traffic islands and barriers.
- Operate pickup truck and crew cab.
- Operate asphalt roller.
- Shoveling and raking of materials as required.
- Flagging
- Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.
Education: - High School Diploma preferred.
Work Experience: - Previous heavy highway traffic control experience.
Physical Demands: - Job requires the following motions: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching and squatting.
- Walking or standing may occupy the entire day.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
- Overtime work is required.
- Valid Driver's License with transportation to and from job sites.
