Job Title: Import Operator – Air & Ocean (Ocean Focus)

Position Overview:

My client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Import Operator to join their growing logistics team. This role will handle end-to-end import operations for both Ocean and Air shipments, with an emphasis on Ocean Import coordination. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing international shipments, coordinating with overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers, and clients to ensure timely and compliant cargo movement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage full-cycle Ocean Import shipments from pre-alert through final delivery, including documentation review, customs clearance coordination, and billing.
• Support Air Import operations as needed, maintaining flexibility across both modes.
• Communicate with overseas agents, steamship lines, freight forwarders, and trucking providers to monitor shipment status and resolve issues.
• Prepare and process import documentation including arrival notices, ISF filings, delivery orders, and customs documentation.
• Work closely with customs brokers to ensure timely clearance and compliance with U.S. CBP and PGA requirements.
• Provide proactive updates to clients regarding shipment status, delays, or delivery scheduling.
• Ensure all documentation, records, and entries are accurate and in compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate last-mile delivery with drayage and domestic carriers; ensure POD collection and timely billing.
• Collaborate with internal departments such as sales, customer service, and accounting to support customer needs and resolve billing issues.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in international logistics or freight forwarding, with a strong focus on Ocean Imports
• Familiarity with ISF filings, HTS classification, and customs clearance procedures
• Knowledge of Air Import processes, with ability to support both air and ocean as needed
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
