Job Description
This position manages and administers a wide variety of routine and complex responsibilities relating to new hire processing, employee relations, personnel requisitions and job postings, and other duties as they may be assigned.
Hourly: $24.00 - $29.00, benefits and bonuses ($500 sign-on, 6 & 12 months $500 retention).
The HR Specialist position is NOT remote. The position is based out of the Vancouver, WA office, with occasional travel to other locations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist in the daily administration of HR services as directed or assigned, including but not limited to: recruitment and selections (including representing the company at job fairs and college campus recruiting events), workers compensation, promotions, transfers, employee benefits, annual performance evaluation process, and employee relations in accordance with quality management principles and overall objectives of the organization.
- Creates, publishes, and manages the company's employment opportunities via the company's HRIS system to include, but not limited to: review applications, create offer letters and onboard new employees in additional to a wide variety of publishing opportunities.
- Audits and processes all New Hire paperwork, ensuring that all forms are complete, accurate and approved prior to the applicant starting work, including the pre-employment drug test and criminal background check.
- Conducts all post-hire I-9 checks using the Homeland Security E-Verify program.
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Including but not limited to: developing and preparing corrective action notices, acting as a liaison between employees and management, managing employee complaints and conducting exit interviews.
- Completes a variety of employee-related paperwork such as employment verifications and unemployment claims
- Update the HRIS system with new hires, pay changes, transfers, etc.
- Maintains and tracks accurate records of DOT licenses and Medical Certificates.
- Assists in the coordination and/or facilitation of employee-related events such as employee appreciation parties.
- As directed, participate in the investigation and resolution of ongoing employee relations problems, anticipate problems whenever possible, and in consultation with Operating Management and the VP of Human Resources & Administration, develop, recommend, and initiate appropriate steps for resolution.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
- Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization and the public.
