TITLE: Food Service Delivery Driver
*This position is part time working approximately 6 hours per day when school is in session.
Hourly Rate: $18.25
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Food Handling Certificate
2. Current Illinois Driver's License
REPORTS TO: Director of Food Service & Assistant Food Service Director
JOB GOALS: To assist with food production, prepping and loading delivery vehicles. To transport meals, food items and supplies to school kitchens in accordance with a predetermined schedule.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL DUTIES): 1. Receiving and storing food items, meals, supplies, and equipment.
2. Receive and inspect food & beverage vendor deliveries for damage and accuracy to purchase order specifications and invoices. Report any shortages, damages or discrepancies to food service leadership. Utilize HACCP methods.
3. Drive a district vehicle to school locations to pick up and deliver food items, meals, supplies and equipment.
4. Maintain cleanliness of district vehicle, routinely visually inspect vehicle, and fuel vehicle as needed. Maintain fuel receipts in compliance with District policy.
5. Comply with all requirements of the National School Lunch Program.
6. Maintain functional operation and cleanliness of kitchen, equipment, and storage coolers, freezers and rooms.
7. Pull food and supply orders from production site, load onto district vehicle, deliver items to school kitchens. Unload items for each school kitchen to their designated location. Pick up any items the school kitchen needs returned to the production site.
8. Store items received and returned in appropriate storage location of production site. Rotate inventory as needed. Ensure food items are not spoiled or damaged.
9. Keeps food production, storage, and service areas clean and sanitary.
10. Communicate with school kitchen leads and district staff regarding delivery of orders. Resolve errors between school kitchens. Respond to emergency food item and supply requests for school kitchens.
11. May assist in kitchens as needed.
12. Assist with inventory activities as directed.
13. Maintain a tight schedule and perform efficiently under fast-paced conditions.
14. Work independently or as a team. Have good organizational skills.
15. Maintains cheerful disposition & positive attitude while interacting with students and staff.
16. Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
17. Works as a member of the school food service team.
18. Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES: 1. Lifting of up to 50 lbs, pushing and pulling items. Use proper lifting techniques.
2. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment, computers, vehicles, dollies and to perform required functions of the job.
3. Stand for extended periods of time. Regularly bend at the waist, stoop, climb, kneel, and crouch.
4. Withstand extreme hot and cold environmental temperatures. Safely handle hot food items.
5. Reach above shoulders. Climb a ladder or step-stool to reach.
6. Operate a district vehicle while using safe driving practices. Operate a lift gate.
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE: 1. Experience in the food service industry is preferred.
2. Experience with receiving and delivery is preferred.
EDUCATION: . High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
