Director of Finance NYC Private Equity - Investment Management Firm J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for an experienced and highly motivated Director of Finance, at a prominent NYC Private Equity - Investment Manager.

The Director of Finance will be a pivotal member of their leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial functions, including tax, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and financial reporting.
This individual will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will ensure the integrity of their financial practices, drive strategic financial planning, and support the firm's growth and profitability goals. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in financial management, an understanding of tax regulations, and a proven ability to lead complex financial functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Strategy : Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies that support the firm's strategic objectives and enhance shareholder value.
- FP&A : Lead the financial planning and analysis function, providing insightful analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to support strategic decision-making.
- Financial Reporting : Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, management reports, and other financial disclosures in compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Operational Efficiency : Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Risk Management : Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, ensuring robust internal controls and risk management practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, investors, auditors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure transparent and effective financial communication.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Strategic Projects : Support strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and other corporate finance activities.
The ideal candidate would have a background including:
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in finance, with a strong background in tax, FP&A, and financial reporting, preferably within the private equity or infrastructure sectors.
- Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing high-performing finance teams.
- Deep understanding of financial instruments, tax regulations, and reporting standards.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in financial management systems and software, including advanced financial modeling capabilities.
Education:
- Strong academic record and a bachelor's or higher degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable.

The estimated salary range is $175,000-$250,000 plus employees may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation award. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
