Open to U.S. Citizens/Nationals. What the job is The Criminal Investigator (Special Agent) 1811 duties involve investigating criminal statutes of tax administration and financial crimes. This may include access to sensitive information and coordination with DOJ and IRS foreign country attaches; travel and investigations across diverse geographic areas; and working with complex financial data. Responsibilities The Criminal Investigator plans and conducts investigations relative to criminal statutes of tax administration and financial crimes, which may require access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) or Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP). The work involves analyzing complex accounting problems and identifying interrelationships of facts across multiple entities. Performs other investigative and enforcement duties such as testifying as a Government witness, assisting the U.S. Attorney, and conducting collateral inquiries. Obtains, evaluates, and integrates information to identify large areas of noncompliance across professions, industries, or geographic regions. Qualifications and requirements Basic requirements: GL-07 level requires one year of specialized experience at the GL-05 level or education substituting as specified, including accounting or auditing experience in a business or commercial setting. GL-09 level requires one year of specialized experience at the GL-07 level or equivalent combination with education as specified. Special requirements MAXIMUM ENTRY AGE restrictions apply; medical and physical fitness requirements must be met prior to appointment. Applicants must pass medical examinations, have near and distant vision meeting specified standards, and pass a hearing test. Applicants must maintain emotional and mental stability and be able to perform the duties without hazard to themselves or others. The position requires possession of/maintenance of a valid driver’s license, firearm proficiency, and successful completion of the Special Agent Basic Training Curriculum at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center or equivalent. Education Submit transcripts or equivalent if education is used to meet qualifications. Foreign education may be used if credentials are deemed equivalent to U.S. education; provide evidence as required. Additional information Includes a 3-year probationary period and several employment conditions (e.g., LEAP, relocation policies, security clearance).
