What We Are Looking For:

SUMMARY:

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for selling, planning, coordination and execution of catering events. They are responsible for the event supervision by communicating with other departments and ensuring the accuracy of event details and will assist in maintaining the AAA Four Diamond Standards. In addition, the Catering Sales Manager will promote and facilitate a professional interactive role in our established Sales & Marketing and Banquets departments.

The Catering Sales Manager shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. They will be responsible for exemplifying the Woodmark Hotel & Still Spa Culture as well as promoting our hotel values of Honesty, Enthusiasm, Integrity, Respect and Accountability.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Aggressively solicits and sells catering services that meet the hotel guidelines
  • .Executes catering sales plan to exceed goals
  • Provides overall direction, coordination and ongoing oversight of catering events
  • Generates detailed BEOs and resumes for hotel staff
  • Contacts clients to upsell food & beverage items to enhance their event
  • Establishes strong rapport with clientele; maintains close contact with clients to determine set-ups, numbers attending, types of facilities required, meal arrangements, times and special needs
  • Communicates effectively with hotel staff to ensure smooth delivery of all services
  • Maintains strong knowledge of local social catering and wedding markets, with the ability to sell and service elegant and prestigious events at The Woodmark Hotel
  • Actively participates in community/civic activities to maintain awareness within community and to create booking opportunities
  • Participates in geographically appropriate trade shows
  • Manages expenses to align with budget guidelines; explains and justifies expenses to clients
  • Quickly evaluates alternatives and decides on a plan of action as necessary
  • Evaluates each piece of catering business to ensure business can be properly serviced; conducts in-house tours for clients prior to bookings; guides clients through property limitations
  • Reviews all billings prior to submitting for processing
  • Works with culinary team to create impressive menus for catering events; maintains strong awareness of trends in food and service
  • Provides alternative approaches to meet client demands
  • Works with clients to coordinate all events
  • Acts as point of contact for in-house catering guests
  • Optimizes room rental charges
  • Tours event space frequently to assure proper set-ups
  • Reviews guests feedback to ensure continual guest satisfaction
  • Works with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events
  • Offers innovative suggestions for guests on set-ups, menus and activities
  • Maintains strong knowledge of catering space set-ups and A/V requirements
  • Welcomes incoming guests with courteous and professional attitude
  • Handles client requests promptly and with high level of accuracy
  • Upsells other hotel services and amenities to guests
  • Communicates all pertinent information to the culinary/banquet team
  • Maintains constant awareness of safety issues; reports all safety incidents to on-duty supervisor
  • Acts with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment
  • Attends appropriate department, hotel and division meetings
  • Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all hotel amenities as well as any special events
  • Reports to work on time and according to posted schedule, maintains accurate time records
  • Maintains a professional appearance. Follows all Woodmark Hotel dress code standards
  • Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues at all time
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
  • Four-year degree preferred
  • Prior Hospitality experience preferred
  • Prior sales experience preferred
  • Prior catering experience preferred
  • At least three years customer service experience preferred
  • Delphi software experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be detail-orientated and able to work with high level of accuracy under pressure
  • Must have strong knowledge of computers including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Must have a natural ability to interact with others
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to accurately follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must possesses excellent communication skills
  • Must have excellent listening skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be professional in appearance and demeanor

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift, with intermittent periods of sitting and walking;
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 30lbs at shoulder height;
  • Must be able to occasionally push/pull up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis;
  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat);
  • Must be able to climb stairs occasionally, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat).
