Role Overview:

Sodexo is seeking a  Catering Manager 2for  South Dakota State University located in  Brookings, South Dakota . Sodexo manages the catering for the entire campus which caters to a wide variety of events, from on-campus meetings, graduations, weddings, VIP events, and much more. The  Catering Manager 2 will have a strong focus on catering operations, assist in building relationship with current and potential clients, and assist in executing on-trend events.

In this Catering Manager role, you will:

  • Manage/coordinate day-to-day scheduling and technical delivery of multiple events each day - ensuring innovative presentation, from meetings and conferences to high-end catering program for the campus;
  • Execute casual, to elegant and sophisticated catering experiences that exceed guest expectations while enhancing client program objectives;
  • Coordinate multiple events and utilize a systems-based approach to meet each event’s timelines/specifications and quality of product; and
  • Manage, train, schedule, and delegate hourly Full Time, Part Time and Student employees.

What You Bring:

Reporting to the Catering Director, the ideal candidate will have:

  • 3+ years of catering management experience (full event life-cycle), preferably within a high-volume campus dining setting or hotel setting;
  • Proven ability to build/mentor a solid catering team that shares your level of commitment and passion for exceptional catering;
  • Client satisfaction skills; professional demeanor; excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and delegate to coordinate multiple events and utilize a systems-based approach to meet each event’s timelines/specifications and quality of product;
  • Experience in driving catering sales through suggestive selling and contract negotiation; and
  • Experience with catering event software such as CaterTrax, CaterEase or EMS.
