Job Summary The County of San Diego's Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk has an opening for AUDIT-APPRAISER I To be a part of this superior team, apply now! These positions may have a teleworking and/or flexible schedule available after an initial training period. Audit-Appraisers are certified appraisers who apply accounting and audit procedures and the California Revenue and Taxation Code in the discovery, records audit, and assessment of business and personal property. This is the first working level class of the series. Under general supervision, incumbents perform audits on small firms following prescribed procedures.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, solid skills, and knowledge in auditing business accounting records to determine proper values of assessable personal property and business fixtures for tax purposes. In addition, ideal candidates must be able to apply accounting and audit procedures and the California Revenue and Taxation Code in the discovery, records audit, and assessment of business and personal property.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in accounting, business administration (with a major in accounting or finance), economics or a closely related field, which included college course work in elementary accounting, intermediate accounting, advanced accounting, cost accounting, and auditing.
Possession of a permanent Appraiser's Certificate from the State Board of Equalization, within twelve (12) months from the date of appointment, which must be maintained throughout employment in this class.
Note: Certification as a Public Accountant (CPA) by the California State Board of Accountancy is highly desirable and may be accepted as meeting the education requirement.

HIRING TIMELINE AND DATES The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.
- Job Offer and Background Process begins shortly after the interviews are completed. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
- Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

EVALUATION Qualified applicants will be placed on a
six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in the supplemental questionnaire.
