POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounting Clerk is a temporary position primarily responsible for all aspects of accounts payable and other special accounting projects supporting the finance department. The position requires thorough knowledge of debits and credits for financial analysis and an ability to take on projects with minimal guidance.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Process accounts payable transactions
  2. Obtain approvals required for miscellaneous invoices and enter invoice into the system
  3. Maintain the AP email box
  4. File AP invoices
  5. Process supplier invoices and perform a 3-way match against PO and receiving transactions
  6. Prepare check run - match invoices and checks for signature, mail signed checks
  7. Perform filing and maintenance of AP and PR records
  8. Enter Non-Check AP payments into system
  9. Process customer invoices and enter them into customer portal
  10. Send out customer statements
  11. Follow up on past due customer payments
  12. Other projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience/Background:

  1. 1- 3 years related accounting / bookkeeping experience including account reconciliations and analysis.
  2. This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a U.S. person or protected individual within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines U.S. persons and protected individuals as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), U.S. Temporary Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Skills:

  1. Knowledge of IFS ERP software finance modules a plus
  2. Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook, web-browsers, accounting and time keeping software.
  3. Basic ability to prepare debit and credit memos
  4. Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  5. Good problem-solving skills
  6. Good written and verbal communication skills
  7. Ability to read and understand procedures written in English

Education:

Associate’s degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of training and experience that would allow for successful completion of job duties.

ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Office / Sedentary Requirements:

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
