Job Summary:

The CDL/Yard Driver is responsible for operating tractors to switch empty and full trailers to and from the shipping dock and yard trailer parking area.

Shift: Friday/Saturday/Sunday, 5am - 5pm

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Receives shipping schedule for ensuing shift and operates truck tractor to move filled trailers to yard parking area as designated
• Monitors and ensures that safety chocks are in place during loading process and removed for return to parking area
• Places and removes dock boards as required
• Cleans out trailers after placement at dock for loading
• Other duties as assigned
• Operate material handling equipment
• Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs
• Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition
• Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations
• Maintain a level of professionalism at all times

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving
• Hazmat/tanker endorsement
• Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment
• Ability to safely drive various vehicles
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions
• Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least two years of recent driving experience with a Class A CDL, tanker and hazmat endorsements.
• Minimal infractions on a 3-yr MVR.
• Current Class A CDL and DOT card

Physical Requirements:

• Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and walk.
• Team member is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
• The Team Member is frequently required to sit, talk and hear.
• Team Member must occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Candidates must pass a background check, pre-employment drug screen and road test administered by Sunland.
