Job Description



AECOM is seeking a motivated civil engineering student for a summer internship to be based in Orange, California. 

This position is expected to begin in June 2024.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist project teams with hydraulic modeling using HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and analyses
  • Utilize GIS and AutoCAD for mapping and drafting tasks
  • Conduct data collection and research for water resources projects
  • Support engineers with report writing and documentation

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering with the intent to continue after the internship, unless graduating.
  • Candidates must have completed 3 years of study in their program.
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

:

  • Strong academic background in fluid mechanics, hydrology, and hydraulics.
  • Familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, GIS, and AutoCAD software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Available to work full-time during the summer months.
  • Experience with flow mechanics and hydrology hydraulics software like GIS AutoCAD HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS.
  • Previous internship experience in water resources or civil engineering.
  • Involvement in relevant student organizations, and strong technical writing abilities.
