Responsibilities Job Summary The Virtual Medical Assistant (MA) position provides virtual support to our in-clinic and virtual doctors and advanced practice providers by reducing administrative burden, providing effective intake management and supporting virtual rooming and end of visit transitions. The Virtual MA position is responsible for knowing his/her professional scope of practice as defined by the California Business and Professional Code and for satisfactorily completing the Dignity Health Medical Foundation orientation period including demonstrating skills and behaviors that meet a fully competent level of performance. In this remote position, the MA maintains a clean, organized, and professional environment (considering background and environmental sound). S/he performs virtual patient care services that support in-clinic and virtual physician / provider's practice under the clinical supervision of the Physician, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Licensed Vocational Nurse. The role enables our physician and advanced practice providers (APPs) to more efficiently focus on clinical care and patient relationships. Responsibilities include virtual patient intake (medical / family / social / behavioral), supporting patients in virtual collection of key vitals (e.g., blood pressure), creating the chart / entering patient data into the EHR, leveraging the schedule manager to manage patient appointments and scrub schedules, virtual rooming of patients (e.g., patient trouble-shooting and readiness for the visit), viewing and managing the televisit experience (e.g., provider readiness to initiate the visit), and patient inbound / outbound communications. This may include relaying instructions from the physician or APP to a patient or authorized person and documenting patient concerns, patient messages, and care provided to the patient in the patient's medical record for the physician's and/or APP review. The MA provides an exceptional patient experience, often the first point of contact for people new to the Dignity Health system. This position will provide excellent customer service through communications using a variety of mediums including phone, messages, and virtual platforms. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to work effectively independently and remotely, be savvy with technology including supporting patients who may have technical challenges, and contribute to a high-performing dynamic care model. This is a hybrid remote / onsite role and employees will be expected to be available to work from the System office in Rancho Cordova as needed. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma (or equivalent) required Satisfactory completion of a formal Medical Assistant program pursuant to the Division of Allied Health Professions or military training that is equivalent to an accredited Medical Assistant program (determination by Dignity Health Medical Foundation H.R. department in conjunction with the State Division of Allied Health Professions) required Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills required Medical terminology, familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding procedures and reference tools, and pharmacology appropriate to the Medical Assistant scope of practice required Current BLS certification required (must be certified through the American Heart Association) Preferred Qualifications: Six (6) months of experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant preferred Familiarity with an electronic practice management system preferred While you're busy impacting the healthcare industry, we'll take care of you with benefits that include health/dental/vision, FSA, matching retirement plans, paid vacation, adoption assistance, and more! #HelloMedicalAssistants
