• Position Summary
  • The Unit Clerk transcribes and posts Physician orders; maintains Medication Administration Records; transcribes appropriate information on patient's graphic record; assists in maintaining PAR Levels of supplies for the Nursing Unit: maintains an organized work environment; observes, recognizes and documents EKG rhythms in the patient's chart: facilitates communication between staff, patients, families and/or visitors.

  • High School Diploma - Preferred
• Experience
  • 1 Year EKG Rhythm recognition - Preferred
  • 1 Year Medical transcription - Preferred
• License & Certification
  • BLS - Required
• Core Job Functions
  • Call lights and phones are answered in an efficient and professional manner and messages are communicated to the appropriate person. Work area is kept organized and clean.
  • Prepares charts and prints labels. Processes department admissions and discharges entering documentation for admission and departure in computer system. Retrieves Medical Records as necessary.
  • Monitors departmental inventory, supplies and equipment for needs, waste and/or malfunction. Maintains clean work area. Creates and maintains patient charts and paperwork from admission to discharge.
  • Observes cardiac monitors for abnormal rhythms and rates and reports to nursing staff. Ensures all patients are placed on monitor upon arrival to the floor and places rhythm strip on patient's chart per guidelines. Accurately identifies lethal arrhythmias and initiates appropriate alert.
  • Communicates with internal and external customers in a professional, timely manner. Accurately transcribe orders and enters departmental charges day of procedure.
