Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Roanoke, VA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,089 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 1/19/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Roanoke, Virginia, 24014! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of post-heart surgery experience required. License: Active Virginia State or Compact RN License required. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - EPIC charting experience required. - Cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience required. Description: Position in the Open Heart/Thoracic PCU. The unit focuses on post-heart surgery patients. Requires experience in cardiac monitoring and management of dysrhythmias. Must be able to activate Rapid Response/Code teams. Experience in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration is essential. Knowledge of central and peripheral line care is required. Candidates must be comfortable administering cardiac drips. Experience with respiratory support and non-invasive airway management is necessary. The patient ratio is typically 1:4-5. The unit workflow includes trauma residents and mid-level providers on-site. Telemetry is remote, and monitoring is done on the unit. Occasional floating to other PCU or medical-surgical units may be required. The facility observes a call-off policy allowing one shift off every two weeks. Holidays must be worked per contract specifications. Weekend requirements include either every other weekend or six shifts in a six-week schedule. All requests for time off must be submitted upfront. Candidates should be prepared for a busy unit with a high volume of cardiac patients. Knowledge of isolation precautions is necessary. The unit is equipped for patients requiring telemetry monitoring and additional support services. The team includes interdisciplinary support for optimal patient care.
