Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Survey Project Manager RPLS who will be responsible for overseeing and certifying land surveys, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and managing survey teams/crews for projects related to pipelines, facilities, and civil projects. This role requires a licensed survey professional to provide technical oversight, ensure accuracy, and support engineering and construction projects with high-quality survey data.

 

Job Description

  • Survey Management & Compliance:
    • Perform and certify surveys in accordance with state and federal regulations.
    • Oversee and manage survey teams for pipeline routes and facilities projects.
    • Prepare and review legal descriptions, plats, and boundary surveys.
    • Ensure compliance with Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors Laws and Rules concerning the practice of surveying (or other applicable state board).
    • Verify accuracy of survey data and maintain quality control standards.
  • Project Support & Coordination:
    • Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to provide essential survey data.
    • Review and approve survey deliverables, including route surveys, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, pipeline alignments sheets, as-builts, and construction staking.
    • Coordinate with clients, landowners, and regulatory agencies on land boundary and right-of-way (ROW) issues.
    • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all survey projects.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Supervise and mentor field survey crews and survey technicians.
    • Mentor and train survey staff and ensure adherence to best practices.
    • Promote a culture of safety, accuracy, and efficiency within the survey team.
  • Technology & Software Utilization:
    • Utilize GPS, LiDAR, drone technology, and GIS tools for survey data collection.
    • Operate and oversee use of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Trimble equipment, and other survey software.
    • Implement modern survey technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Business Development & Client Relations:
    • Support business development efforts by providing technical expertise and client consultation.
    • Assist in preparing proposals, budgets, and project schedules for survey projects.
    • Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

 

Skills Required

  • Minimum 5–10 years of land surveying experience, with a focus on pipeline and facilities projects.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of pipeline routing, facility layout, ROW, and construction staking and as-built for pipeline projects.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble, Leica, GIS, and drone survey tools.
    • Expertise in boundary law, ALTA surveys, and legal descriptions.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Must be a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) in Texas and Louisiana. Mississippi, New Mexico, Colorado, and North Dakota are a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Field and office work, requiring travel to project sites.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and terrains.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking long distances, carrying equipment, and standing for extended periods
