Six months to one year related experience and/or training preferred OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES - Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately to students, staff, and visitors.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Essential Duties - Assist the Building Administrators to secure and limit access to areas of the building in use and those not in use.
- Direct students and visitors to their assigned areas/rooms.
- Provide assistance and direction to all authorized individuals in the building.
- Ensure that any unauthorized individuals in the building during school hours leave the building as promptly as possible.
- Conduct building surveillance of gyms, locker rooms, and other parts of the building, as assigned.
- Close and lock areas that are not scheduled for use for that particular day or evening.
- Secure areas of the building (e.g., stairwells, sections, floors, etc). to ensure limited access by unauthorized individuals.
- Open and close the designated areas for student, parent, or community use, as needed.
- Periodically check the parking lot.
- Assist with security (e.g., locker rooms) and crowd control during school activities, as assigned.
- Lock, secure and turn off lights when areas are not in use.
- Record and report promptly each incident involving individuals or facilities that appear potentially to endanger the health, safety, or well-being of individuals or building security.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all matters pertaining to students and personnel.
- With above average skill, relate individuals to names and situations.
- Other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor for occasional tasks that align to current job duties.
