Architecture & Facilities Engineering (A&FE) is looking for a MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing-Piping) Staff Fire Protection Engineer to support the development and sustainment of projects we support throughout the Disneyland Resort. Our department supports a wide range of project types including Attractions, Maintenance, Foods, Merchandise, and Entertainment. Projects range from minor renovations to new and existing facilities and utility-based assets. You will also support immediate response efforts with reactionary projects. This team acts as the Engineering Owner’s Representative with technical expertise for engineering issues, design management of in-house and outside resources, code compliance, Disney design standards, documentation, specifications, and life cycle cost analysis for best value. This role also involves close collaboration with other engineering subject areas and multiple Disney project teams including FAM, WDI, Entertainment, Food and Beverage, and Operations. You will collaborate with the A&FE MEP Sr. Manager Responsibilities - LMTR Leadership: In this collaborative role, you will act as Owner’s Representative on projects from concept through construction at the Disneyland Resort. Perform as Owner’s Representative, including witnessing the signing and sealing of construction documents as needed. Management: Run the design and development of contract documents of projects with in-house and outside resources to meet project scopes, schedules, and budgets. Coordinate design activities and supervise field installations and demolition work that align with specifications and code requirements. Technical Skills: Use and build your experience to develop concept designs and RFP’s (Request for Proposals). Review drawings, engineering calculations, and specifications and ensure that all projects are crafted and implemented to applicable local and state codes and statutes. Review shop drawing submittals and respond to vendor’s requests for information per Resort standards. Site visits to problem tackle issues and minimize schedule impacts. Relationship: Partner with internal teams to develop, maintain, communicate, and carry out Walt Disney Company design guidelines, standards, master specifications, and details. Assist Project and Design Managers to resolve design compliance issues relating to Projects requirements. Validate that all Item Specifications are consistent with products installed before archiving manuals. Build enhanced communications and expectations to efficiently implement all projects. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering and Professional Engineer License Full awareness w/ working knowledge of Building & Fire Codes and NFPA Codes & Standards. OSHA compliance experience with codes and standards development such as NFPA, ASTM, ICC, CFR, etc. 8+ years of experience in the design and construction of fire protection systems and/or fire protection consulting. Willingness and ability to travel for project support with the possibility of extended durations. Knowledge in the use and application of computer modeling tools for fire and smoke spread and timed egress analysis. Desired Qualifications Master’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field Owner’s representation and AHJ capacity Specific experience with theme parks, resort hotels, and mixed-use facilities. Experience with fire testing and regulatory application of fire test methods to building materials. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit. The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $112,100.00 - $150,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
