Job Description

Position : Sr. WordPress Developer
Location: Long Beach, CA 90805 (Hybrid)
Duration :12+ month contract with possibility of extension.

Skills Required:
The Website UI/UX Designer/Developer (WordPress) will possess knowledge and experience with WordPress website design, development, and implementation; various coding languages, frameworks, operating systems, and platforms including PHP, NodeJS, React, JavaScript, CSS, CLI, BASH scripting, GitHub, Linux, Windows, WP Engine (WPE); Open-Source Content Management System (CMS); technology and methodology of API; WordPress; document search tools such as Elastic or Algolia; and Documentum. They will possess knowledge and experience in customer service; ability to collaborate with different level of team members; strong organization and time management; oral and written communication skills in English; ability to provide feedback and receive critique from design team members and customers; and practice DevOps and agile methodologies.

Skills Preferred:
Proficient in JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL.
Extensive ability with WordPress including development, theme and plugin customization, site configuration, and troubleshooting.
WordPress Plugin Development creating custom plugins to extend WordPress functionality, with a strong understanding of the WordPress plugin architecture and best practices.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal:
Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to team members and stakeholders
Effective collaboration in a team environment.
Familiarity with WP Engine hosting platform environment to optimize site performance and leverage its unique features for improved site management and security.
Strong understanding of frontend and backend website security best practices for securing websites against vulnerabilities

Experience Required:
This classification requires a minimum of five (5) years performing all of the building and customizing of WordPress websites, themes and plugins; building natively or using tools such as ACF ( Advanced custom fields) to facilitate the creation of blocks, page options and or theme customization; building responsive websites for desktop and mobile devices; client side scripting using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, and jQuery; a minimum of two (2) years working with ADA and accessibility tooling / remediation; Using REST or GRAPHQL API; Hardening WordPress websites and remediating security vulnerabilities; Perform performance tuning PHP, Apache and MySQL and scripting and running load testing tool; Programming in PHP and JavaScript; and a minimum of three (3) years installing, configuring and using Open-Source development tools, IDEs, and GIT source control.

Experience Preferred:
Three years in the following: website security practices including best practices against vulnerabilities, regular updates and security plugins; designing websites using Adobe tools such as Photoshop or InDesign creating visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces that align with brand guidelines; building enterprise-level WordPress websites, including developing scalable and robust solutions that meet demands of a large organization; and building modern, responsive websites that adapt seamlessly across various devices and screen size ensuring optimal user experience.
Two years of web accessibility guidelines to provide equal access to all users.

Education Required:
This classification requires the possession of a bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or Computer Science field.
Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
