Job Description



The Senior Director, Global Business Insights will be a key member of the McDonald’s Global Strategic Insights and Delivery Channel team and a vital advisor to the broader McDonald’s Customer Experience Leadership team. This role has been formulated to help drive decisions and actions that will result in market leading performance in customer visits, sales and market share. The successful candidate will balance an ability to upgrade technical skills with an ability to connect human insights and data together to tell a holistic story that inspires and provokes the business. This candidate should also on top of trends and technology that will enable more efficiency and effectiveness. 

Key Technical Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior member on the Global Strategic Insights team, leading and provoking the business of today, tomorrow and the future.
  • Automate performance analysis, reporting and scenario planning for the global business, with particular focus on the top 6 markets.
  • Significantly upskilling the analytics capability of the Global Business Insights team and sharing standard methodologies across market teams by introducing best-in-class analytical methodologies and tools, and by providing clarity on the best methods for answering recurring business questions. Examples include: incrementality calculations, test and learn approaches, customer analytics to drive deeper insights into how they use our brand and products on different occasions, and connecting various data sources together for unique insights, such as social listening, brand tracking and customer receipt data.
  • Partner with business insights leads from top markets and segment leads. Introduce standard methodology techniques, processes and tools for analysis and reporting and collaborate with market colleagues to drive adoption and consistency. This will include identifying the right KPIs to measure and the most effective reporting dashboards, joining up internal analysis with quantitative research data sets to drive greater commercial relevance and implementation. The council will drive toward automation at both the global and market level in order to focus resources on translating implications of data and insights to the business.
  • Lead the joining up of consumer and business insights with competitor and market context insights across the broader global insights team – including customer feedback and social media insights.

Key Leadership & Change Management Responsibilities

  • Develop talent and lead BI team
  • Become a major catalyst of corporate wide culture change toward customer obsession.
  • Enhance the intellectual curiosity of the Insights team and of colleagues around the business in order to hone the strategic muscle throughout the organization.
  • Drive thought leadership within insights and across the organization as related to our customers and how to better meet their needs.

Qualifications

  • Degree in field like Business Analytics, Finance
  • Previous corporate or consulting experience in managing complex analytical projects in large cross-functional organizations such as retail, restaurant or food service, CPG, financial services, etc
  • Hands-on experience with analytical techniques like regression (multi-variate, logistic, etc), customer modeling (segmentation, CLV, propensity modeling), forecasting (demand, sales, baselining, etc)
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing principles and big data architecture; prior experience in partnering with IT to drive large data management initiatives
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and Data Visualization required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - ability to communicate complex issues to senior leadership
  • Good understanding of financial drivers of company performance and must be able to quantify business impact from analyses.
  • Ability to work in a complex decentralized organization and influence diverse functional partners towards decision and action.
  • Experience working with a large global organization strongly preferred
  • Ability to connect the dots on disparate pieces of reporting/analysis and formulate a cohesive understanding of business performance drivers (strong business analysis skills)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing competing and changing priorities
  • Strong people skills required to lead and inspire small teams of direct reports and consulting resources
