Small CPA firm is looking for a well-versed and experienced Tax Accountant to join our team and assist our busy office in multiple areas and functions of tax accounting. We are looking to fill this role full-time or part-time year-round, or even seasonal during tax season. Our office is centrally located, close to transit and there is plenty of parking. Hours are flexible. While the candidate must have experience in tax accounting, we will work with the right person to help them adapt to meet the expectations and needs of our firm.  This is NOT a remote position and would require the candidate to complete all work onsite in an office setting.  

Responsibilities Include:

Tax Return Preparation (Individual, Trust, Corporate)

• Enter tax information accurately.
• Be able to recognize and optimize taxable transactions.
• Understand current tax law and stay up to date on recent changes.
• Report to the partner in charge who will review every tax return.
• May be asked to do underlying accounting such as payroll tax or sales tax.

Bookkeeping

• Update financial reports via Quickbooks.
• Post journal entries.
• Process financial reports.
• Bank reconciliations
• Assist other team members with preparation of monthly/yearly closings.

​​​​​​​Other Duties

• Analyze regulatory correspondence
• Process various paper audits in several areas of taxation
• Collaborate with other staff members on income tax planning

Qualifications & Requirements:

• 4+ years current experience in public accounting and tax preparation
• Accounting or related degree, CPA or EA preferred but not required
• Must be experienced with QuickBooks
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
• Must be extremely detail oriented
• Must be a self-starter with excellent time management skills
• Must be able to effectively meet deadlines
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking & problem solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must have a willingness to learn and adjust to meet the needs of the firm.
• Experience with UltraTax a plus but not required
• Experience with TaxDome a plus but not required

Salary will be based on experience & skills.
