The role of the Senior Textile Innovation Engineer involves actively engaging with our customers to understand their needs and fostering effective product development pathways that facilitate the timely commercialization of innovations. Duties:
-Serve as a critical point of contact to our design and technical teams to translate the voice of our customer to the development on new textile product innovations
-Collaborate with VP of Product Development to create product innovation roadmaps
-Research and engage new innovation partners to enhance Shawmut's innovation capabilities
-Manage, facilitate, coordinate, and motivate our innovation partners to create collaborative product and process innovation solutions. Partners may include but not limited to global textile partners, specialty material partners, external processors and internal product development and design teams.
-Collaborate with Shawmut's Innovation's laboratory to develop sufficient test plans to support innovation development.
-Coordinate and update company stakeholders of innovation activities to facilitate efficient product and process commercialization. Stakeholders will include the executive team, business development, supply chain management, program management and other relative functional areas.
-Align innovation activities with Shawmut's OKRs (Objectives, Key Results)
-Lead/Participate in stage gate innovation reviews of key innovation projects
Requirements
-BS in Textile Science/Engineering or related field. Masters preferred
-5-10 years' experience in a related engineering, technical, or technical sales field concentrated in new process and product development of textiles
-Background in innovation management a plus
-Routine travel (domestic and international) up to 30%.
-Software efficiency - MS Office suite, Outlook, etc.
-Statistical software knowledge a plus - Minitab, Jump
-Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
-Ability to work in flexible, fast paced environment is a must
