Position Title: Senior Accountant
Department: Accounting
Reports To: Controller
Location: Vancouver (Fully Onsite. No remote option available)
Compensation: Dependent on Experience (DOE)
Schedule: Monday to Friday

Position Summary:
The Specialized Recruiting Group is collaborating with a bank in Vancouver looking to add a
dedicated Senior Accountant to join their team. This role involves managing key financial
processes, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and supporting the preparation of both internal
and regulatory reports. You’ll also contribute to improving accounting operations and ensuring
compliance with industry standards.

Primary Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
• Contribute to the creation and review of financial and regulatory reports submitted to
government bodies and regulatory agencies.
• Assist in generating internal financial statements and management reports for decision making.

Accounting Operations:
• Play a key role in daily accounting tasks and month-end closings, ensuring precise
reconciliation of the general ledger.
• Design, implement, and maintain accounting systems that meet GAAP standards, tax
regulations, and internal guidelines.

Audits and Compliance:
• Coordinate with external auditors and regulators, assisting in audit preparation and
regulatory reviews.
• Support tax filings as needed.

Team Collaboration and Communication:
• Provide clear, actionable guidance to accounting staff and other departments on financial
procedures.
• Collaborate on department-wide initiatives, including annual budgeting and performance
analysis for various branches.
• Contribute to the team’s goals by offering exceptional support to colleagues and clients.

Workflow and Process Oversight:
• Organize and streamline work processes to ensure efficient and accurate task completion.
• Handle customer account adjustments, resolve accounting discrepancies, and address any
client inquiries related to financial activities.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Process Improvement:
• Identify opportunities to improve and standardize accounting procedures for greater
efficiency.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of processes and responsibilities.

General Department Support:
• Assist with any additional tasks within the accounting department as required.
• Complete necessary training to stay up to date with regulatory changes and internal
procedures.
• Adhere to company policies and take on ad hoc assignments as needed.

Collaboration and Team Interaction:
• Regularly communicate with supervisors to receive direction on accounting policies and
practices.
• Coordinate with colleagues across departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
• Occasionally interact with internal auditors and external agencies to ensure compliance
with regulations.

Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least four years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Technical Skills and Competencies:
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, GAAP, and industry regulations.
• Advanced Excel skills, including knowledge of pivot tables, V-lookups, and complex
formulas.
• Experience with Word and basic database queries is a plus.
• Proficient in using standard business office equipment and software.
• Stay committed to personal and professional development within the role.

Analytical and Communication Skills:
• Ability to interpret financial regulations, write clear reports, and communicate effectively
with team members.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex mathematical tasks, such
as accruals, percentages, and ratios.
• Flexibility to adapt to a changing work environment and effectively collaborate with
colleagues.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
• Regularly required to sit for extended periods, use hands to manage tasks, and
communicate effectively.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Vision capabilities include the ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
• Office environment with moderate noise levels; occasional exposure to electrical
equipment.
