We are Seeking a Seasonal Farm Laborer and Equipment Operator

COMPANY PROFILE:

The Gorrill Ranch is a diversified fourth generation family farming operation located in the Northern California Sacramento Valley. Our farm produces premium California rice varieties and permanent tree crops including almonds, pecans, and walnuts. 

JOB TITLE: Seasonal Farm Laborer and Harvest Equipment Operator
Shift: Seasonal (full-time potential)
Compensation: $18 - $23 DOE

Seasonal Position Summary:

The seasonal farm laborer/harvest equipment operator participates in crop harvesting, utilizing various equipment and mechanical devices. The position requires the ability to maintain, repair, drive and control all forms of farm machinery and equipment used to till soil, plant, cultivate and harvest crops as well as, there is manual labor for pruning, weeding and orchard irrigation, repairs and other duties as assigned by management.

Essential Duties:

• Tractor operation, tillage, and harvest
• Physical labor includes pruning, weeding, shoveling dirt, and physically repairing irrigation lines/boxes.
• Knowledgeable in the operation and functions of farm machinery.
• Perform equipment cleaning, maintenance, and repairs.
• Assist with other general labor tasks as needed.
• Operate tractors and backhoes when necessary to complete tasks.

Non-Essential Responsibilities:

• Other duties as assigned by  management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must possess a valid, current drivers’ license.
• Previous work experience in a rice and/or nut orchards
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong teamwork skills
• Must be organized and know how to maintain equipment.
• Need to have excellent manual dexterity and should be able to work with small, detailed objects.
• Class-A driver’s license a plus
• Knowledge of English and Spanish a plus.

Physical Demands:

• Must regularly stand, climb up and down steps, ladders.
• Regularly reach with hands/arms
• Climb and Balance
• Stoop, crawl, and kneel in tight spaces.
• Regularly lift and move at least 30 lbs.

Conditions:

• Outdoor conditions including wet, humid and heat exposures.
• Work near moving mechanical parts.
• Work in in high, precarious places
• Exposure to airborne particles
• Work with frequent vibration
