Although open until filled, priority date is 12/6. The Department of Undergraduate Academic Affairs has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist/Engineer 4 to join their team. Within UAA, the Community College Research Initiatives (CCRI) is a research group committed to generating actionable, timely research that supports more equitable college access and completion, critically informed student support, and improved educational pathways. Our goal is to leverage this research to effect change in postsecondary education at all levels. CCRI has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist 4 to join our team! The position has the possibility to be fully remote or hybrid. The Research Scientist will be crucial in supporting multiple CCRI projects, including helping co-lead a grant to increase low-income STEM students' transfer and completion of baccalaureate degrees. Responsibilities include collecting, coding, analyzing, and managing data, drafting scientific manuscripts, preparing for IRB and Grants and Contracts requirements, and assisting in grant applications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Works in concert with the CCRI director and fellow CCRI researchers to coordinate the planning, development, and submission of competitive research proposals. Co-author briefs and reports that summarize major findings and participate in dissemination activities. Assist in the design and co-facilitation of transfer partnership convenings. Manage and support the execution of scope of work, deliverables, and budgets of multiple grants and contracts. Participate in team meetings and equity initiatives, building relationships and representing CCRI with stakeholders.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree in related field and four years of relevant experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Working knowledge of practices, policies, and issues related to vertical transfer. Experience with successful grant writing and IRB applications. Experience creating, collecting, analyzing data, and writing up results. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and oral communication and facilitation skills. Experience successfully working as part of a team.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

PhD in education, social sciences, or related field. Two or more years of relevant work experience in education research. Knowledge and experience with community college transfer and STEM education.
