Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maternal Service Program Manager provides leadership and promotes excellence in patient care for obstetric conditions. This position is responsible for planning, development, and implementation of obstetric quality and patient safety goals. The Maternal Service Program Manager coordinates education with the Women’s Service Line Education Specialist, Women’s Services Leadership, and Maternal Medical Director for staff and physicians, and oversees the ongoing quality improvement process to improve patient care. This position ensures compliance with the accreditation standards, collects, and reports data to external agencies (as required) and internal committees.

What qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

REQUIRED

1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

REQUIRED

1. Current RN licensure in Texas or compact state,

2. BLS certification

3. ACLS certification

4. NRP certification

PREFERRED

1. National Certification

2. STABLE certification

3. Intermediate and Advanced Fetal Monitoring Course Completion

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:

1. Labor and delivery experience, at least 3 years’ experience.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

REQUIRED

1. Be a clinically active and practicing registered nurse participating in maternal care

2. Have the ability to collect, interpret and analyze data. Have the ability to apply critical thinking skills to process improvement and decision-making. Have the ability to cope effectively with crisis and emergency situations. Strong and effective communication skills. Have the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team and encourage team-building efforts. Knowledge of general hospital operations.

PREFERRED

1. Computer skills, previous experience in applicable field
