Job Description
ATTENTION ALL ALASKA RESIDENTS! Join DOT&PF's GIS Team and play a key role in supporting enterprise GIS systems and data used across the Department. This position contributes to the development and maintenance of geospatial applications and datasets that support transportation planning, asset management, and reporting needs statewide. You'll collaborate with a skilled team to deliver dependable, high-quality GIS solutions that keep Alaska moving!

Depending on the selected applicant, this position can be filled in Juneau, Fairbanks, or Anchorage. Salary information is listed below:

Juneau: $2,975.25 / Biweekly

Fairbanks: $2,918.25 / Biweekly

Anchorage: $2,833.50 / Biweekly

What you will be doing:
This position supports DOT&PF's planning and operations through enterprise GIS and authoritative data management. Primary responsibilities include maintaining geospatial databases, improving and updating datasets, and supporting department-wide data quality and governance standards. By working with data from across the Department and collaborating with program areas and other state agencies, this role offers a rare opportunity to develop a deep, end-to-end understanding of DOT&PF's programs, priorities, and statewide transportation system. In addition to core data stewardship duties, the position contributes to impactful GIS projects such as visualizations, dashboards, and spatial products that inform planning and operational decisions. The role includes ongoing training and professional development opportunities to support growth and advancement within enterprise GIS and planning.

Minimum Qualifications

Post-secondary education in urban or regional planning, urban design, geography, community development, transportation planning, environmental and natural resources planning, economic planning and development, or closely related field;

Progressively responsible, independent experience in environmental, transportation, or community development; architecture; civil engineering; landscape architecture; urban design; historic preservation; geography; geographic information systems; housing administration; grant administration; accounting; business management; or research.
