Pay Rate: Up to $18.26 / hour
Position Purpose: Instruct Family Wellness swimming lessons as directed by the Aquatics Manager and Aquatics Coordinator while maintaining a safe pool environment for students and other patrons. Provide direct leadership to all pool activities under the supervision and guidance of the Aquatics Manager and Aquatics Coordinator. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe pool environment while enforcing Family Wellness rules, policies and safety procedures for members, guests, and employees.
Job Specific Competencies (Teaching Swimming Lessons): - Develops swimming skills in students and communicates any issues or problems to parents of the participants. Develops bonds with students through consistent attendance and clear expectations.
- Responsible for the safety of class participants.
- Able to control and discipline students in a positive manner consistent with Family Wellness rules and safety guidelines.
- Follows and/or develops lesson plans consistent with Family Wellness lessons that are challenging and appropriate for each class level taught.
- Communicates with and provides feedback to Aquatics Manager, Aquatics Coordinator, and Aquatics Lead concerning all relevant programs.
- Evaluates and records all students' progress and distributes progress reports to each student at the end of each lesson session.
- Performs other pool set up, breakdown, and cleaning duties as required.
- Responsible for understanding and maintaining the Aquatics Department and Family Wellness policies and procedures.
- Exchange resources and information with other Family Wellness employees.
Job Specific Competencies (Lifeguarding): - Maintains control of the pool and enforces safety rules in a firm but positive manner.
- Responsible for the safety of all guests in the pool area.
- Understands and maintains knowledge and understanding of Aquatics Department and Family Wellness Policies and Procedures.
- Keeps pool and pool area clean and clear of potential safety hazards and informs Aquatics Manager, Aquatics Coordinator, or maintenance personnel of any problems or necessary repairs.
- Always alert and ready to prevent unsafe happenings and to help others in need of attention within the facility.
- Performs other pool set up, breakdown, and cleaning duties as required.
- Maintains a constant communication pipeline with the Aquatic Manager and Aquatics Coordinator.
- Exchanges resources and information with other Family Wellness Employees.
- Ensures the pool is never left unattended unless it is empty, and all doors are locked.
- Records water and air quality measurements. Reports any abnormalities or problems.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
Education, Experience, & Skills (Minimum Requirement): Applicants must be 15 years of age or older. Previous teaching experience preferred, but not required. Current lifeguard certification preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirement(s): Family Wellness swim lesson instruction skills will be provided upon hire including classroom instruction and shadow teaching with experienced instructors.
American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid required within 3 months of hire. FAMILY WELLNESS LLC
