Paralegal at State Farm summary:

The Paralegal supports attorneys by managing discovery processes, drafting legal documents, and preparing trial materials in a fast-paced electronic environment. This hybrid role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience with case management and document storage systems. Candidates should have prior experience in insurance defense or personal injury law and be familiar with Texas civil procedures and medical records review.

Linda M. Villarreal & Associates, staff counsel for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, is seeking Paralegals to join their growing team in Houston, Texas. Candidates must be detail-oriented, adaptable, able to prioritize workload, and can multi-task in a fast pace electronic environment. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, assisting attorneys with conducting client discovery meetings, drafting written discovery objections and responses, drafting reports, drafting medical summaries/chronologies, assist with retaining experts and trial assistance. This is a hybrid role , meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend some time in the office. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.

Office Location: 1221 Lamar St., Houston, TX 77010

Previous Experience required:

• Prior paralegal experience, preferably insurance defense or personal injury
• Background in drafting discovery responses, trial preparation, and drafting motions/pleadings
• Familiarity with the Texas Rule of Civil Procedures
• Experience reviewing medical records and completing medical summaries

Key Skills required:

• Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, prioritize workload, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectively
• Strong written communication skills, attention to detail

Technology/software experience required:

• Strong software/technical skills
• Working knowledge of a Case Management system
• Working Knowledge of a Document Storage system

Education requirements including licensing and certifications:

• Prior litigation or paralegal experience, paralegal degree/certificate/certification, medical training, or relevant coursework or legal studies degree is required

• Potential starting salary range: $70,373.88 - $85,000.00
• Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
• High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
• Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
