Brief Position Overview

We are seeking an Estimator to join our new company. Your role is responsible for preparing, developing, and coordinating the preparation of full estimates for complex projects and services related to the specialty trade industry including but not limited to commercial and residential painting and concrete coatings.

As an Estimator, you will work with Clients, Engineers, Project Managers and more, both internally and externally, on a wide range of projects. There is potential for travel to Bid Walks and Projects.

Primary Duties

• Develop project proposals as requested
• Analyze and evaluate project plans, specifications, scope, difficulty, and any other requirements necessary to prepare a job cost estimate and assemble bid packages
• Prepare conceptual estimates and/or budgets
• Prepare accurate and detailed quantity take-offs and unit pricing
• Provide value engineering as requested
• Produce and submit any deliverables as designated by clients in their RFP Packages.
• Use the Request for Information (RFI) process when information is lacking (document appropriately)
• Maintain in the job file, all correspondence records and notes for the project being bid (log all bid documents)
• Review and analyze all quotes to assure they meet the standards and specifications for the project
• Communicate with Customers, owners, vendors, and trades
• Secure vendor pricing and select vendors and subcontractors by their cost effectiveness for each project
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to completely cover scope in the most cost-effective way
• Immediately respond to any vendor or subcontractor questions; resolve issues immediately and completely
• Get written documentation on vendor and subcontractor quotes
• Participate in weekly meetings with Senior Leadership team
• Assist Project Manager with purchasing and any change orders on projects estimated as requested
• Ensure Quality Assurance/Quality Checks are always in place
• Job close out and review
• Attend pre-job meetings
• Attend all estimating meetings
• Attend project job walks as assigned
• Be available on all bid days to assist in the collection and review of incoming quotes
• Communication; Documentation; Organization

Requirements

• 3-4 years formal experience in estimating commercial and residential construction projects or experience in the planning or managing of engineering design or construction
• Professional education and/or experience in the construction and/or relevant industries
• Thorough understanding of estimating and/or construction management
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent math and organizational skills
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• Willingness to learn new skills and ideas.
• Proficient with Stack Takeoff & Estimating software as well as Microsoft (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc) with an ability to accurately learn new software quickly
• Valid Driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Bidding - Gross Sales & Gross Margin
• Accurate & Timely Bid Tasks

Desired Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience in construction and estimating preferred
• Degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred
