Surgical Tech/HUC – Women & Children’s Unit

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Surgical Tech/HUC to join our Women & Children’s Unit. This role supports operative procedures, assists with deliveries, and provides direct and indirect patient care in collaboration with nurses and physicians. The ideal candidate will be a certified surgical technologist with experience in operating room procedures and patient support.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures
Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment
Monitor surgical instrument inventory and ensure availability of supplies
Clean, inspect, and transport instruments to sterile processing
Assist with vaginal deliveries, including preparation and post-procedure cleanup
Support patients with daily activities (vital signs, feeding, hygiene, mobility)
Help with patient positioning, transfers, and discharges
Handle medications under the supervision of a surgeon or nurse
Transcribe physician orders and manage communication between departments
Participate in staff meetings and departmental quality improvement activities
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year experience as an operating room tech
High school diploma, HiSET, or GED preferred
Graduate of an accredited two-year surgical technology program required
Associate Degree preferred
Certification as an Operating Room Technician required
Current BLS certification required
Ability to independently scrub in all surgical specialties
Strong attention to detail, organization, and patient-centered care
