Surgical Tech/HUC – Women & Children’s Unit

Location: Helena, Montana | Department: Women & Children’s Unit | Employment Type: Full-Time

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Tech/HUC to join our Women & Children’s Unit. This role supports operative procedures, assists with deliveries, and provides direct and indirect patient care in collaboration with nurses and physicians. The ideal candidate will be a certified surgical technologist with experience in operating room procedures and patient support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures
  

• Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment
  

• Monitor surgical instrument inventory and ensure availability of supplies
  

• Clean, inspect, and transport instruments to sterile processing
  

• Assist with vaginal deliveries, including preparation and post-procedure cleanup
  

• Support patients with daily activities (vital signs, feeding, hygiene, mobility)
  

• Help with patient positioning, transfers, and discharges
  

• Handle medications under the supervision of a surgeon or nurse
  

• Transcribe physician orders and manage communication between departments
  

• Participate in staff meetings and departmental quality improvement activities
  

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year experience as an operating room tech
  

• High school diploma, HiSET, or GED preferred
  

• Graduate of an accredited two-year surgical technology program required
  

• Associate Degree preferred
  

• Certification as an Operating Room Technician required
  

• Current BLS certification required
  

• Ability to independently scrub in all surgical specialties
  

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and patient-centered care
