Recruiter - Accounting & Professional Services Position Summary: The Senior Accountant – Grants is responsible for managing the financial aspects of restricted and unrestricted grants, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and regulatory guidelines. This role works closely with program managers, development staff, and external funders to oversee the full lifecycle of grant accounting—from budgeting and reporting to reconciliation and audit support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in nonprofit grant accounting and fund reporting. Key Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day accounting for all grants, including federal, state, and private foundation funding. Monitor grant expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets and funding restrictions. Prepare and submit timely financial reports to funders in accordance with grant agreements. Coordinate the preparation of grant budgets, forecasts, and modifications in collaboration with program teams. Maintain accurate records of grant activity in the general ledger and ensure proper coding of transactions. Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations related to grants. Collaborate with development and program staff to track funding requirements, program deliverables, and spending progress. Assist with annual audits and funder-specific audits by preparing supporting documentation and responding to auditor inquiries. Stay current on relevant accounting standards, including GAAP and Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200). Contribute to process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in grant accounting practices. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or advanced degree a plus). Minimum of 4–6 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in nonprofit grant accounting. Strong knowledge of fund accounting and grant compliance, including federal and state regulations. Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, MIP, or similar) and advanced Excel skills. Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments. Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
