Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Nonprofit Accountant on behalf of our client, a highly impactful and mission-driven nonprofit organization based in Portland, OR! This part-time, hybrid, contract opportunity is ideal for an early-career accounting professional with strong attention to detail and a desire to support a collaborative finance team in delivering accurate, timely, and organized financial operations.
The ideal candidate is self-directed, discreet, and process-oriented, with basic bookkeeping or accounting experience and a proactive mindset. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable
- Assist with payroll preparation and related data entry
- Reconcile financial records and maintain organized documentation
- Help ensure compliance with internal policies and external reporting requirements
- Collaborate with finance team members to streamline workflows and improve accuracy
- Provide general support with audits, recordkeeping, and accounting projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Some professional experience in accounting or bookkeeping; nonprofit experience a plus
- Familiarity with accounting software (MIP, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with team members
- Discretion and integrity when handling sensitive financial information
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
This part-time contract position offers an hourly pay rate of $27-$31.25/hr, depending on experience.
