Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Neutronics Analyst to work in our Used Fuel Management department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position. Our Neutronics Analyst must understand the tools for performing radiation transport computer analysis of nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste (criticality and radiation dose rate/shielding analysis). You will learn and perform other nuclear engineering and researcher tasks associated with used fuel management projects, beyond their analysis work. Also, an understanding of spent nuclear fuel facilities (e.g., independent spent fuel storage installations, spent fuel pools, canister/cask handling procedures), packages (e.g., storage, transportation), and technologies (e.g., canister and cask design system design, canister and cask closure options, drying technologies, repair/mitigation alternatives) and advanced fuel types (e.g., TRISO, metallic, molten salt). You will report to the Used Fuel Department Manager. Responsibilities Include:

  • Contribute expertise to a broad range of advanced nuclear reactor and spent nuclear fuel related projects. Including: Department of Energy-NE's Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition program, Department of Energy-EM's Technology Development activities, and collaborations.
  • Publish work in various customer-required reports and peer-reviewed journal publications.
  • Involvement in the preparation, peer review, and delivery of program plans, oral presentations, and other activities related to INL spent fuel programs.
Qualifications: Minimum Requirements:
  • BS in Nuclear Engineering, Physics or related discipline plus 2 years experience or advanced degree in same.
  • Experience with Criticality/Radiation Transport Software, MCNP or SCALE/KENO.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Preferred Experience:

Job Information:
  • The pay range for this position is: Level #1 $63,528.00 - $130,284.00 / Level #2 $75,804.00 - $155,496.00. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
