The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience as a mechanical designer. A positive can-do attitude and being a valued team player are a must to be successful in this role. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to communicate ideas effectively either verbally, written, or through technical forms such as sketching, CAD modeling, drawings, etc. CAD will be a primary focus in this role, but you will also be exposed to the following: Ideation Bill-of-material structuring Designing concepts and ideas: surfacing, sheet Metal, solid modeling, drafting Document control Analysis Prototyping Skills and Abilities Problem Solving/Decision Making: Ability to use a variety of methods and techniques in solving technical issues Conceptualize ideas 2-dimensionally and 3-dimensionally Must have a basic understanding of sheet metal and plastic design along with rapid prototyping methods such as 3D printing. Experience working in Product Data Management (PDM) systems such as Windchill. Systems, Procedures & Standards: Ability to apply appropriate standards and protocol that govern the Steelcase design/engineering process Computer Skills: Ability to create CAD models and drawings to document the engineering/mechanical aspects of a design. Interpersonal: Ability to work with peers and management in a multi-disciplined team environment. Must be a team player with good collaboration skills. Administrative: Ability to work on multiple assignments and effectively manage time and priorities Communication: Ability to communicate technical information with all audiences Education/Experience A minimum of an Associate Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent is required.
