Purpose The Meat Manager leads the meat department with expertise and precision. Responsibilities include supervising staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, managing inventory, maintaining high standards of food safety, and driving sales and profitability through effective merchandising and cost control. Responsibilities Supervise and train meat cutters and department staff. Provide exceptional customer service and product recommendations. Manage inventory control, maintain stock levels, and minimize waste. Ensure food safety and sanitation compliance. Lead merchandising and presentation of meat products. Control costs while maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction. Collaborate with Deli and Bakery managers for integrated operations. Physical and General Requirements Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physically demanding tasks. Manual dexterity and precision with knives, saws, and other cutting tools. Attention to detail for maintaining quality and consistency. Safety awareness and adherence to protocols. Ability to work in cold refrigerated sections and high‑traffic areas. Multitasking and shift flexibility including evenings, weekends, holidays. Strong verbal communication skills. Work Environment Primarily within a meat cutting department, with exposure to refrigerated storage, walk‑in freezers, and meat processing equipment, often in cold environments and occasionally high temperatures. Safety‑Sensitive Position Must hold a valid food worker card and a Services Manager Certification issued by the State of Alaska's Division of Environmental Health or obtain one within 30 days of hire.
