This job was posted by : For more information, please see: Volt is seeking a Materials Engineer for a REMOTE opportunity with client located in Bellevue WA As a Materials Engineer you will: Interface with project teams to provide material selection, processes, and requirements for reactor development programs. Perform scientific analysis of reports and test data (e.g., metallography, non-destructive inspection, mechanical properties, ductility) and generate technical specifications to document new knowledge related to reactor design and qualification. Oversee test programs designed to develop an understanding of complex mechanical phenomena (e.g. creep, fatigue, creep fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, and fracture) in sodium cooled fast reactor plant materials such as steel alloys Provide materials engineering support for the procurement of engineered components and systems including leading technical development of suppliers to increase technology readiness level of key components. This is a full-time role Ideal candidate will have: Minimum of 3 years of related experience with a B.S. degree; or an advanced degree with related experience, or equivalent experience. A degree in Materials Science/Engineering or a related technical discipline is desired. Prior experience in materials development, testing, and characterization for a nuclear reactor environment is desirable Experience qualifying materials for service in highly regulated applications is preferred Experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) is preferred Experience developing material processing specifications, evaluating material selections and reviewing vendor material definitions. An understanding of complex mechanical phenomena (e.g., creep, fatigue, creep fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, and fracture) in high temperature systems Strong communication skills desired The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.
